In the following overview, you will find a list of the common boating licences and marine radio certificates that are issued in the recreational sector.

Motorboat cat. A | For motorboats with more than 6 kW engine power (Lake Constance 4.4 kW).A sailing boat may also be operated under engine power.A boating licence of "Category A limited to sailing ships" can be acquired to be allowed to operate sailing ships with auxiliary engines over 6 kW (Lake Constance 4.4 kW). |

Sailing boat cat. D | For sailing boats with more than 15 m² sail area (Lake Constance 12 m²). |

High Rhine patent | Authorised to drive motorboats with more than 4.4 kW on the stretch of the Rhine between Stein am Rhein and the Schaffhausen-Feuerthalen road bridge. |

Coastal licence | Authorised to operate sailing yachts or motor yachts at sea. |

Marine Radio SRC Short Range Certificate |
Authorised to operate VHF radio systems with and without DSC controller as well as Inmarsat-C equipment and internal radio equipment (under Swiss flag). |

In addition to the SRC, entitles the holder to operate with medium frequency (MF) and high frequency (HF) equipment with and without DSC. |
